壽 Shòu: Longevity: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms Fanfiction Ch 21

Mo Yuan stared at Zhe Yan and shook his head. Zhe Yan must not have spoken to Seventeen yet and was unaware of what had occurred between them. Zhe Yan was still glaring at Mo Yuan angrily.

“You’re mistaken, Zhe Yan. Seventeen isn’t marrying Ye Hua.” Mo Yuan smiled at the end of his reply and said, “I’ve already confessed my real feeling to Seventeen.”

Zhe Yan walked right up to Mo Yuan and said, “You’ve finally confessed your feelings? Out loud? Directly to Xiao Wu? Not just to yourself silently?” Zhe Yan looked at Mo Yuan; his eyes were still unconvinced.

“Yes, I told Seventeen how I felt about her, and she has accepted my love,” Mo Yuan said to clarify Zhe Yan’s confusion.

Zhe Yan paced back and forth then suddenly stopped and put his hands on his waist. “What happened after you confessed your love to Xiao Wu? Are you sure she understood you properly?”

Mo Yuan smiled again and replied. “I’m sure she knew. She accepted my love. She even mentioned having children right away.”

Zhe Yan abruptly got very close to Mo Yuan and whispered, “So you took the big step and made her yours?” Zhe Yan raised his eyebrows surprised by Mo Yuan’s statement.

Mo Yuan blushed and looked down. “Seventeen is a proper young woman. She wanted to wait until our wedding night.”

Zhe Yan couldn’t make sense of any of this. Mo Yuan was telling him the truth but nothing made sense.

“When did this ‘confession’ happen Mo Yuan?”

Mo Yuan wasn’t used to Zhe Yan asking such personal questions. It wasn’t like Zhe Yan to be this nosy. Zhe Yan was an inquisitive individual yet this was the first time he was requesting such private information from Mo Yuan.

“The day she left Kunlun,” Mo Yuan replied.

Zhe Yan threw his hands up in the air in frustration and said, “I don’t know what you think you did, but you didn’t convince Xiao Wu. Are you are sure that you told her properly instead of being vague and non-direct as usual?”

Mo Yuan was starting to become annoyed with Zhe Yan. “We shared some time together intimately. I’m confident Seventeen understood,” Mo Yuan declared, defending himself.

Zhe Yan looked at Mo Yuan confused and questioned, “You just said that she wanted to wait until she was married? Mo Yuan are you sure you didn’t dream this?”

Mo Yuan chuckled lightly as he recalled his intimate time with Seventeen, but then felt annoyed by Zhe Yan’s interrogation. “I’m positive. I didn’t dream this. What are you going on about Zhe Yan? How much have you had to drink today? You’re spouting nonsense!?”

Zhe Yan shook his head at Mo Yuan and said, “Mo Yuan, Xiao Wu told the Fox King to meet with Heavenly Lord to set a wedding date. She is planning on marrying Ye Hua. She must have had a change of mind after she left Kunlun Mountain; otherwise, this makes no sense whatsoever.”

Mo Yuan couldn’t understand what Zhe Yan was saying. Had Seventeen changed her mind after leaving Kunlun Mountain? Had he not made himself and his feelings clear to Seventeen? No, this was impossible. She had allowed Mo Yuan to kiss and touch her intimately. Suddenly Mo Yuan remembered thinking that he had heard her say that she was marrying Ye Hua. At the time Mo Yuan thought he’d misunderstood her, but did he hear her correctly when she told him she was marrying Ye Hua? Mo Yuan’s head was spinning.

Mo Yuan reached and grabbed one of Zhe Yan’s sleeves saying seriously, “I need to see Seventeen. I need you to send her a message for her to return here or arrange to meet me elsewhere. I can’t believe what you’re telling me. I need to hear it from her lips.”

==================

Heavenly Grandfather summoned Ye Hua to the Main Hall. The Fox King was also present when Ye Hua arrived. Ye Hua bowed to both Heavenly Grandfather and the Fox King who was sitting comfortably, looking Ye Hua up and down. Ye Hua kneeled, curious to hear why he had been summoned. Heavenly Grandfather looked pleased and smiled brightly at Ye Hua and announced,

“Ye Hua get back up and greet your future father-in-law, the Fox King, properly. He’s here to discuss your marriage with his only daughter Bai Qian, the future queen of Qing Qiu. You’ve made me extremely proud today, Ye Hua. This marriage is an incredibly generous act from the Fox King to bestow such an honor on you.”

Ye Hua stood and kowtowed to the Fox King before returning to his kneeling position before Heavenly Grandfather.

The Fox King looked Ye Hua up and down noting how much Ye Hua looked like Mo Yuan. Yes, this would be a good arrangement for Bai Qian. She had favored Mo Yuan for a long time without any reciprocation from Mo Yuan. It was time for his beautiful daughter to accept reality and move on with her life. Bai Qian had stayed at Kunlun much longer than he desired, but the Fox King had never said a word to his daughter who holds a special place in his heart. Bai Qian was his one and only beautiful daughter that was identical to his mischievous self in his youth before becoming the Fox King. In Bai Qian, the Fox King saw many of his traits especially his stubbornness and unyielding nature.

Bai Qian was the peach of the Fox King’s eyes.

The Fox King secretly felt sadness giving his beloved daughter to anyone, but she had wanted Mo Yuan. Ye Hua was the next closest thing he could give to his daughter. Yes, Ye Hua would suffice.

“Ye Hua,” the Fox King said, before becoming emotional at the prospect of giving his daughter away in marriage. The Fox King cleared his throat, “I have agreed to this arrangement because Bai Qian has herself decided to marry you. You must remember to love, honor, and protect her at all cost. Bai Qian is more precious to me than all of my realms combined, and I will never forgive you if you bring tears to her eyes. Bai Qian has four older brothers who share the same feelings as I do. I will not hesitate to declare war on any clan if Bai Qian is hurt in any way. Do you understand?”

Ye Hua replied, “I will never hurt Bai Qian. I would die for her if needed, without a second of hesitation.” Ye Hua bowed again to the Fox King.

The Fox King respected Ye Hua’s strong determination and believed this young man was a man of his words. “Ye Hua, have you met Bai Qian yet?” The Fox King asked.

Ye Hua looked up at the Fox King and replied clearly, “I have met Bai Qian and am in love with her. I love Bai Qian with all my heart and soul. Marrying Bai Qian feels like a dream come true. My feelings for Bai Qian will only grow stronger and deeper with time.”

Ye Hua’s declaration of love brought tears to the Fox King’s eyes. Yes, this young man would do. He would do just fine.

The wedding set for the 8th day of the 2nd month of the following year due to it being an auspicious wedding date. A February bride would be an affectionate wife and a tender mother.
