壽 Shòu: Longevity: Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms Fanfiction Ch 22

The Story Of The Tortoise and Hare……

After Ye Hua returned from meeting the Fox King, he was overjoyed. Bai Qian had been serious about marrying him. Ye Hua slapped himself lightly on the face to make sure that he wasn’t dreaming. The wedding was happening in three short months. After that, he would be Bai Qian’s husband. Her legal husband for all of eternity. Ye Hua paced across his study thinking about how wonderful everything was turning out. It was true that their beginning had been difficult and heartbreaking, but all his dreams and hopes were coming to fruition. Everything he had gone through was well worth it, he thought.

Then Ye Hua remembered that Bai Qian still thought he was homosexual and had said she would get pregnant with High God Mo Yuan. How was he going to be able to clarify himself and keep her from going to High God Mo Yuan? Also, what if Bai Qian was already meeting Mo Yuan, being intimate with him and actively trying to become pregnant?

This was quite alarming.

What if Bai Qian was already pregnant with Mo Yuan? It would be impossible to say who the father of Bai Qian’s child would be if they were both intimate with her during the same time period. Ye Hua’s jealousy suddenly exploded within himself. How would he be able to keep Bai Qian away from High God Mo Yuan? How would Ye Hua be able to keep Bai Qian solely for himself?

Ye Hua thought about going to Kunlun Mountain and discussing the situation with High God Mo Yuan. But what if they were not intimate yet? Ye Hua didn’t want to give High God Mo Yuan any ideas that he hadn’t acted upon yet. If Bai Qian’s love was one-sided and Mo Yuan discovered her feelings towards him, there could be a strong chance that Mo Yuan would realize he had some feelings as well. This was quite a difficult situation.

Ye Hua decided that he would court Bai Qian until their wedding date. Perhaps if she spent more time with him, she would come to realize that he was not homosexual and might develop feelings for him after her misconception was clarified. This is what Ye Hua would do. He would court his future wife….but he didn’t know what to do. Ye Hua had never courted anyone before but he knew someone who had courted and won the hearts of many women, and that person was his third uncle Lian Song.

Uncle Lian Song looked surprised to see Ye Hua come to his palace. This was the second time Ye Hua had come to him, the first being the day he wanted help saving the snake.

Ye Hua sat quietly not knowing where to begin. Ye Hua fidgeted his slender fingers while Uncle Lian Song tapped his closed fan in his palm, impatiently waiting for Ye Hua to speak first. Uncle Lian Song couldn’t wait any longer. Lian Song knew that Ye Hua had come to him for a reason.

“Ye Hua, what brings you here?” Uncle Lian Song asked.

Ye Hua thought about how he would bring up the subject and finally decided to tell Uncle Lian Song everything. Ye Hua told Lian Song about thinking that he was in love with a man and confessing to Si Yin. He then told his uncle about Si Yin really being a woman and then the most shocking part, that Si Yin was Bai Qian of Qing Qiu.

Uncle Lian Song couldn’t believe his ears. He sat quietly engrossed in Ye Hua’s story. Lian Song himself couldn’t fathom the strange chain of events of Ye Hua’s circumstances with Bai Qian. Ye Hua had fallen in love with a man, to find out that he was truly a woman who happened to be his future wife. What were the chances of something so unbelievable truly happening? Uncle Lian Song finally smiled when Ye Hua had completed his story.

“Well, that’s good then right? You fell in love with the one you’re already betrothed to. What a strange fate the two of you have.” Uncle Lian Song opened his fan and fanned himself. “So what’s the problem Ye Hua, it seems as if everything is working out nicely for you.”

Ye Hua frowned as his full eyebrows furrowed and said, “Bai Qian thinks I’m homosexual.”

Uncle Lian Song burst into hysterical laughter until he realized Ye Hua was telling him the truth. He quickly composed himself.

“Just tell her the truth and show her how manly you truly are,” Lian Song suggested.

Ye Hua sighed, “I tried that but it didn’t work. Bai Qian wasn’t convinced at all and she’s in love with High God Mo Yuan.”

“What!? How do you know that?” Uncle Lian Song asked.

“She told me,” Ye Hua answered.

“What? Did she tell you that herself? Are you sure it’s not in a paternal way? Mo Yuan has been her father figure for 70,000 years. Perhaps she’s confused,” Lian Song said. He couldn’t believe it.

“What should I do Uncle Lian Song? How do I make her fall in love with me?” Ye Hua said, really not having a clue as to how he should proceed.

Uncle Lian Song spoke out loud to himself, “Let’s see. The aggressive approach didn’t work…I’ve got it, Ye Hua, go the other way!”

“Be more like High God Mo Yuan. I can guarantee that Mo Yuan hasn’t laid a finger on her yet. Mo Yuan is a lot like Donghua Dijun. They are slow and rarely do anything. They both contemplate, rethink, debate everything a thousand times and still do nothing but observe. I can promise you that Mo Yuan hasn’t touched Bai Qian, let alone confessed his feelings to her. It may very well be one-sided and Mo Yuan may not feel anything towards Bai Qian but paternal love. You must court Bai Qian slowly. You must be the tortoise 烏龜 Wūguī Ye Hua, not the hare 兔子 Tu Zi .”

Ye Hua thought about what his uncle was telling him. It was true that he was the opposite of Mo Yuan. Ye Hua knew he was inpatient, brash and bold. There were times when he moved without considering the outcome. Perhaps Uncle Lian Song had a point. He would take his time and slowly win Bai Qian’s heart.

“Continue to be Bai Qian’s friend. Listen to her and slowly move into Bai Qian’s heart without touching her. She’s used to that kind of behavior, so I think it would be prudent to conduct yourself in that manner. One day she’ll look at you and realize she’s in love with you my lad.” Uncle Lian Song winked and smiled. “Bai Qian’s heart will belong to you and you’ll have nothing to worry about. This I guarantee,” Uncle Lian Song added and sipped his tea.

Ye Hua listened to his uncle and hoped his advice would produce the affect Ye Hua desired.

==============================================

Zhe Yan studied Mo Yuan’s serious expression when he requested to meet with Xiao Wu. It was apparent that Mo Yuan was just as confused by the situation as he was. This was quite a confusing predicament.

“I will arrange for Xiao Wu to meet you but what will you say to her Mo Yuan?” Zhe Yan said, concerned that Mo Yuan would fail to express himself properly.

“I’ll ask her to clarify what’s going on. I need answers and she’s the only one that can truly explain what is happening. This has to be a misunderstanding,” Mo Yuan answered.

Zhe Yan shook his head and said, “Mo Yuan, let me be completely honest with you, my brother. You have a tendency to be vague and misleading. You must be more forward and bold. You need to be more like Ye Hua. Ye Hua has somehow managed to get inside Xiao Wu’s heart in a short period of time. Ye Hua is brash, bold, and daring. He’s the opposite of you.” Zhe Yan took another sip of wine directly from the bottle.

“You can tell Ye Hua is a passionate man just by his looks alone. Do you know how many women fall in love with him daily?” Zhe Yan added.

“Then how should I proceed?” Mo Yuan asked.

Zhe Yan walked up close to Mo Yuan and said, “Be more like Ye Hua. I know you have it in you. I recall how you used to be with women before becoming the Master of Kunlun and choosing celibacy. Be bold, show Xiao Wu that you are a passionate man and make her yours. Mo Yuan, you must be the hare 兔子 Tu Zi and not the tortoise 烏龜 Wūguī. Don’t you remember Tu Zi was your nickname when we were still in school? You used to be quick when it came to women and Xiao Wu will never marry Ye Hua if you take her first. I know Xiao Wu. She’s extremely loyal. Nine-tailed foxes mate for life. You must make her yours and then you’ll have nothing to worry about.”

“So I should ask Seventeen about Ye Hua?” Mo Yuan asked.

“No. I’ll find out the details. She might not want to see you if she feels that you’re going question or scold her. You just focus on making Xiao Wu yours and the rest will work itself out as smoothly as my hundred years aged peach wine,” Zhe Yan said, winking at Mo Yuan and nodding his head confidently.

Mo Yuan listened to Zhe Yan and hoped his advice would cause the effect that Mo Yuan hoped for.
