Mo Yuan~
He was the one who found her after almost a week of brutal captivity, and he held her as she died. He saved her life, even without fungal grass and the risk of demonic possession. Saving her was never a question for Mo Yuan.
For a moment, she opened her eyes, spoke to him, then slipped into unconsciousness. Her words to him remained a secret between them forever. Repeating those words would label him the loser, the one who lost her heart.
Mo Yuan had never lost a battle in his life, and he would not start now.
Ye Hua~
Ye Hua arrived at Qian Qian’s location shortly after Mo Yuan. He reached the spot before his men and Kunlun disciples. Witnessing his beloved’s limp body in his brother’s embrace caused a temporary descent into madness.
He couldn’t accurately recall most details of the moment; it was a hazy blur of lost time. His uncontrollable wrath made him unable to see. Ye Hua mercilessly destroyed over thirty demon fighters and hired killers.
He intensely desired to murder Sujin using the most horrifying and brutal methods possible. Mo Yuan intervened, asserting that the woman would receive punishment for her offenses. Furthermore, her testimony is vital to prosecute everyone who aided Xuan Nu and Sujin’s wicked plot.
A grand tribunal, judged by Donghua Dijun and Mo Yuan (as the Heavenly Lord was also involved), was planned. Two fair and neutral Gods would listen carefully, assess the evidence, and then punish the deserving guilty party.
Mo Yuan~
In the quiet Fox Den, which had recently become his second home, Mo Yuan moved silently, his steps barely audible.
Bai Qian had been in a coma for three months since her rescue. The Fox den was busy with people taking care of her. Today, there were fewer people around. This was because Mo Yuan was no longer just a visitor, but considered Bai Qian’s true fiancé. The lack of others was also because of an unwelcome guest who was an outcast. Ye Hua’s desire to be with Bai Qian went against her family’s wishes.
Ye Hua was not welcome. He was given extensive alone time with Bai Qian when he arrived. More accurately, they purposefully avoided him, prompting Mo Yuan’s pity for his younger twin. He understood Ye Hua’s feelings for her better than anyone. The Fox Clan, however, viewed him as the enemy, or implicated through association with the guilty.
“Qian Qian,” Ye Hua said softly, his voice thick with sorrow and regret, “you know I didn’t mean what I said that day. I was angry. You’re the only one for me and you know that.”
A soft throat-clearing from Mo Yuan behind him made Ye Hua subtly turn his head, yet his yearning gaze remained fixed on her.
“Ye Hua, take a break.” Ye Hua’s shaky voice snapped and cracked like a prepubescent boy. “Mo Yuan, in our last conversation, I called her a crazy bitch and told her that…”
Ye Hua’s ragged breathing and gasps told Mo Yuan he was crying again. I feel terrible for saying that there were more fish in the sea than her.”
Ye Hua gently touched her cheek. He feared, “What if Qian Qian remains unconscious?”
“Ye Hua, what happened to your optimism and confidence? You believed she would wake up. We both know she’s not a quitter.” Mo Yuan hoped his statement held weight. He didn’t mean to push Ye Hua away from watching over Bai Qian, knowing his brother’s time with her was limited.
He suggested this because of what he saw in Nine Heavens earlier. A-Li, his nephew, was alone and upset. He’s just a toddler, but he can sense things without being told. That’s why he acted out. “Ye Hua, I’m concerned about A-Li. He was quiet and cried the whole time I was with him today.”
“I know. A-Li needs me,” Ye Hua said in a soft voice, filled with guilt. He stood up slowly, almost reluctantly, and sighed in defeat. Bending over, he gently kissed her face and whispered, “Qian Qian, I’ll return soon. I love you.”
Ye Hua brushed away the tears on his face. From his slender hand, stray tears fell onto her face. In that instant, the twins showed each other mutual respect and courtesy. The ceasefire involved mutual surrender, with both sides prioritizing Bai Qian’s well-being. Their selfish desires, wants, and feelings paled compared to her importance.
“Mo Yuan, I’ll leave her with you tonight,” Ye Hua said before leaving. Mo Yuan sat in the chair where his twin had been and gently arranged the surrounding blankets. He ran his fingers through her short hair, feeling a surge of protective anger that brought tears to his eyes.
He leaned closer and whispered softly, “Forgive me, my Shì Qī. I asked Zhe Yan to hide your pregnancy from Ye Hua. I don’t know why I did that. I guess I’m more possessive and jealous than a kind and merciful God. Wake up and scold me for deceiving him. It’s time to wake up and feed your babies. Did you know you’re carrying twins?”
